Munnar
The most popular hillstation in Kerala at an elevationof 1600m, Munnar is 76km from Kothamangalam. Thattekkad
Elevations around Thattekkad were over 1500 meters lower than in Munnar and the local temperatures were significantly higher. The one and only sanctuary of its kind in Kerala, the Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary was constituted in 1983. This bird sanctuary, a peninsular land of 25 sq. km is covered with deciduous forests and plantation of rose wood, teak etc.
